Where to start with light therapy

Many of us suffer from depression, seasonal affective disorder and other mood disorders. Light therapy is an excellent way of relieving the symptoms of these disorders by regulating sleeping patterns and the body’s circadian rhythms.

  1. Many people can find themselves in a depressive state for no apparent reason, and this can lead to long-term mental health problems. This state is called major depressive disorder.
  2. It is important to remember that some people can be depressed because they are suffering from another illness, such as bipolar disorder or postnatal depression.
  3. Light therapy can be used as a natural, safe, effective antidepressant treatment.
  4. Exposure to sunlight and other types of light triggers chemical processes in our body and helps us to stay awake.
